Glossary

Customer : A business that holds Users and Numbers. Every request acts for one Customer.

User : A person on your team. Each User has an extension that others dial.

Hunt Group : One destination that rings a set of Identities: Users, IVRs and other Hunt Groups.

IVR : A destination that plays a menu and sends the caller on by the key they press. An IVR is not a User.

Identity : A User, a Hunt Group or an IVR. Each has an extension, and each has a plan. A Number is not an Identity.

Number : A phone number that the Customer owns.

Service : Something that an Identity has: a plan, a data allowance, call recording. See Service.

Call : One conversation as the caller lives it, from the first ring to the last hang-up. A call through an IVR and a Hunt Group, then a transfer, is still one Call.

Leg : One step of a Call that tries to reach one party: an IVR, a Hunt Group, the ring of one User, a transfer. Legs nest. The Leg that causes another is its parent.

Party : Who takes part in something: who makes a Call, who a Leg tries to reach, what takes the calls of a Number, which SIM uses data. It is one of the Customer’s extensions, an outside number, or one of the Customer’s lines that has no extension. See Call.

Internal Call : A Call between two of a Customer’s extensions. Every other Call is inbound or outbound.

Answered : A Call in which a person spoke to the caller: one of the Customer’s Users, or an outside number that the Call was forwarded to. An IVR, a queue, voicemail or a mailbox does not answer a Call. On a Leg, answered means only that the Leg connected, also to an IVR or a mailbox.

Missed Call : An inbound Call that rang a User or a Hunt Group, and that nobody answered.

Abandoned Call : An inbound Call whose caller hung up in an IVR, before the Call rang a User or a Hunt Group. It is not a Missed Call.

Recording : The audio of one Leg. A Call can have none, one or several.

Data Session : The mobile data that one of a Customer’s SIMs used in about one hour. It is a reading, not a connection: it has one time, and no start or end. See Data Session.

Charge : The money for one item of usage: a Leg or a Data Session. A Call has the sum of the charges of its Legs. See Charge.

Price : What a Service costs for each billing period, with no tax. It is not a Charge. See Price.

API Key : The secret that identifies a Customer to the API. See Authentication.

Super Admin : The role in app.onsim that can manage the API Key, beside the account owner.

Version, Additive Change, Breaking Change : See Versioning.
